The Police Managers' Guild Trust will give $4500.00 to Barnardos Dunedin. This will go towards their Footsteps to Feeling Safe programme.

The Footsteps to Feeling Safe programme is a special programme for children and young people 5 years and upwards. The programme helps children work through the impacts of family violence and also looks at how children can keep themselves safe.

The Programme covers:

•Breaking the secrecy surrounding family violence

•Safety planning for children

•The effects of separation and loss

•Expressing feelings effectively

•Managing anger

The Programme uses a mixture of play, creative activities and discussion with the children to help them make sense of the events in their lives and to rebuild self-esteem so that they can face the future with confidence.
